Dharma & Greg is an American television sitcom that aired from September 1997 to April 2002 on ABC. The successful series followed a couple that marries on their first date despite one being a hippie and the other a lawyer working for the US State Attorney's Office. Free spirited yoga instructor Dharma Finklestein and lawyer Gregory Montgomery catch a glance of each other in a subway platform, and after a series of spontaneous decisions, they decide to skip dating and get married on the first date. Their conflicting views lead to comical situations.
Greg and Dharma will have to learn to love each other despite being complete opposites. Dharma was raised by her unmarried hippie parents Abby and Larry who do not believe in marriage, showers and the 'power' of the man. Greg was born to an upper class family, Kitty and Edward Montgomery, attended Harvard and Stanford before working for the U.S. Attorney's Office as a federal prosecutor in San Francisco. Their decision to elope in the day they met causes their families to doubt the longevity of their marriage but Dharma and Greg strive on as they attempt to merge their families and lives together.
